About Me

My Photo
I blog about my life as a twenty something living with her parents, working for a Christian nonprofit, attending graduate school, dating long-distance, maintaining long-distance friendships, being an adviser to a local sorority chapter, volunteering in youth ministry, and learning to love each day, even if it's not where you thought you'd be.

Blessed

Y'all, I bought a plane ticket to go see my love in Texas in just under a month for ten glorious days.  I haven't seen him since my trip down there last July for Independence Day.  I am so excited to spend quality time with my sweet, kind-hearted, merciful and humble man.  God has truly blessed me by keeping Matthew in my life.  He is truly my best friend and has been since we were 16 - that's eight years of sweet friendship and 4 and a half years of calling him my beloved. I am so grateful for the ability to spend time with him and his family this June in their precious small west Texas town.

I have set a goal for the end of this summer - I want to be able to run/jog/walk 13.1 miles by labor day - as of last night, I'm at 4 miles in an hour.  By the end of June, I hope to be able to do 6 miles in an hour and continue to build up distance and eventually speed from there.  I finally feel convicted to use running as a form of praise and thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior instead of dreading it with every ounce of my being.

What are you looking forward to in the next month?  How have you turned something previously unpleasant for you into a form of worship and praise to our King?

Unhapppy

So, I went to the doctor two weeks ago and when they weighed me I learned I'm the heaviest I've ever been and about 50 pounds over my ideal weight.  Y'all, that sucks.

I also learned that in addition to my lactose-free life I've been leading since I was 16, I now have to become gluten-free as well.  So, that's fun. . .

With how busy I've been with work, school and volunteering, I've stopped working out.  I want to remedy this soon.

To start small, I've decided to challenge myself to complete 60 miles in April.  These 60 miles can be walked or ran.  I'm going to update this blog every Friday with my miles from the week prior (Sat.-Fri.).

Will you please help keep me accountable?  I need it :)

Sunday Social

1. Best Valentine's Day you’ve ever had?

My freshman year of college was nice; the boy I was dating at the time bought me two pink wineglasses, a sweet white wine, and the box set of Audrey Hepburn's Roman Holiday, Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's.  We watched Sabrina while eating Red Velvet cake and drinking wine in his dorm room after going out to eat.  It was just a very sweet way to celebrate.

2. Worst Valentine's Day you’ve ever had?

I've never had a bad Valentine's Day, whether I was dating someone or not. Growing up, Mama always got us treats and she continued that through college.

3. What do you plan on doing for St. Valentine's this year?

I have work during the day, then I'm going to come home and do school work and drink a hot cup of tea.

4. Best Valentine's Idea if you’re single?

Going to get a pedicure and manicure, coming home to an old black & white movie like An Affair to Remember or Roman Holiday, a face mask, and a hot cup of tea, followed by  a bubble bath with a glass of wine.

5. Favorite Valentine's Candy?

6. Favorite Valentine's Memory from your childhood?

In third grade I was home sick from school, so my teacher brought my Valentine's to me that evening. A boy in class had brought me a miniature balloon and a a daisy; I thought that was adorable and made me feel much better about being home sick that day.
